On Thursday we decided to investigate a park I had heard about that is not too far from our apartment, in a residential neighborhood. Lo and behold we found a real proper park, with trees and hills and gardens and paths. It was quiet, not crowded and very serene. It was just what we all had been longing for after so many days in the narrow, noisy streets of Firenze.
Gulliver eschewed the path and chose to scramble up the hill between the shrubbery and scurried under this fence to meet me after I had pushed the stroller the longer way up.
These beautiful stone benches were placed throughout the park - each a resting spot with a bella vista.
Clever usage of small branches help protect this slope from erosion.
On your mark, get set, GO! Eisen is off in the distance, leading the race as Gulliver gets a late start.

Our fearless adventurer: Eisen is always moving, making it very difficult to catch a photo of him. Here he is strutting around pretending to be a baby dinosaur.
On the walk home we found the most amazing bakery: Pasticcieria di Stefania. This is a photo of the mirrored, faceted ceiling which reflects the cases of yummies below.
Gulliver is signaling that he is VERY ready to eat all of these cakes.
He was practically climbing the glass cases! (The shopkeepers politely smiled even when his grubby paws left fingerprints all over the perfectly clean glass.)
In the end we each chose one teeny tiny pastry and took them home in a paper bag to eat with our afternoon capuccini (or apple juice, depending upon your height.)
These are the treats I was looking for! You'll be able to remake those at home for us...right!
